MOKHOV – KICKBACK : MADE IN GLITCH
Sunday, November 6th, 2011
Kickback is Mokhov’s debut on Made In Glitch. Russian born, Bay area based, Mokhov is an electronic musician blessed with skills for wonky hip hop beats and a knack for chopped-in vocals.
This is simply bass driven music that works in both clubs headphones. Strongly rooted in the funk and hip hop, Mokhov’s music portfolio has been growing over the past few years, and with every release he has been delivering an always memorable hooks combined with a spirit of fearless experimentation. The opening track, that gives the title to this release, set the vibe for the release: an infectious mix of neon synths and funk breaks.

::PROMO VIDEO::
Call it MAD or simply future Hip Hop, MAD-HOP Vol.3 is an international collection of tracks from world’s finest experimental hip-hop based producers. Generally instrumental, Vol.3 expands from floaty cosmic waves to bass heavy sounds and abstract glitchy beats. With a wide palette of influences including soul, wonky, garage and juke this compilation delivers diverisity and unique flavour.
This third trip around the world has connected artists from Japan, Serbia, Canada, Hungary, U.S.A, Bulgaria, Germany, Poland, England, Russia, France and Slovakia.
We got Pixelord (RU) with his dope drop of dubstep and special guest Tilman Ehrhorn (GER) with his track “Sat” remixed by Himuro Yoshiteru (JP). 2Legit2Quit (CA) introduced himself with some unusual lyrics and BFPSP (USA) got produced by AL_PD (USA). Really thick production popped from Galex and Karaoke Tundra (SL), who also remixed one of fewer tracks with lyrics that came from Cy6erSlut ft. 2Legit2Quit (RU,CA). Pure madness provided by Save Slaves (RU) who appreciate “Nice haircut” and Stephan Farris (USA) with his interesting tune “Sweton”. Headshotboyz (HUN) made a dope hip-hop experiment once again and so did aKiLi (USA) with his buzzing track “Mellowdining”. Filtercutter (SER) also participated, this time featuring Zzuu (NL) remixing track from Manni Dee (ENG). Amazing stuff came from England’s finest, Alphabets Heaven (ENG) with his alien production and Ambassadeurs (ENG) that gave us goosebumbs over his track “M.O.P.E”. Miqi O. Huey Newton (FR) remixed “Gak” from Huess (USA) and gave us lazy snare hit at the back of a neck that is simply unforgettable. Parallel Concept (BUL) went some place deep and created “Buckyball molecule”. Laser synth invasion by Jakub Nox Ambroziak (PL) who gave us “Proton decay” was remixed by Stendek (PL) and we went “Virtual l” with the man himself Powell (FR). B-Ju (GER) introduced some dreamy soundscapes with nice vocals and we also got Lambent (JP) with more classic laid back vibe.

Citymouth – Holodecker EP
Monday, April 4th, 2011
This is a free release by Citymouth, one of Dropping Gems finest resident as they say. He is releasing those tracks in addition to his forthcoming full-lenght album, to give away something fresh and brand new piece of his mind. And for just a 7 silver coins you get a limited edition c20 of the EP with artwork including a cassette only remix from Brownbear and a Dropping Gems sticker. Wooo!! One thing is certain, after we heard this treat, we sure hope this album will be out soon! Cuz dis is dope!!
The Holodecker EP represents an early sampling of the current satellite-relay transmissions we believe to be authored by reclusive beat-futurist Citymouth. Held within these 5 tracks are the ancestral memories of wars fought between robo-tribes (“Fingercrampz,” “Planetsquat”), miracles beheld between bulkheads (“Sepakulive”), love baked between transistors (“Holodecker”), and docking procedures choreographed between ships which have long since dissolved into the endless rings of space debris that encircle our planet (“Nimbusfloor”). The pace alternates between frenetic and contemplative, depending on which chemicals your spacesuit nutria-tube is currently feeding you. You try to turn the knob but it’s covered in grime. You expect to hear ticking but instead perceive beeping. You’re blazed in the habitat ring. You vaporize as Earth becomes a distant memory inscribed in grease upon the plate-metal wallpaper. Five tracks later you reassemble, subtly altered, and try to decide whether you’ll press rewind.
